Thanksgiving 2010

As has become our tradition now, we had dinner at Traci and Tim's house. Traci is a wonderful cook and sure knows how to set a table and host any dinner. We had a great time with them, the boys and Tim's mom, Joann and his uncle, Tom, brother John and his wife Amanda.  The boys beat me in several card games and it was a fun day.

Hayden Red belt testing

On Novemeber 20th, Hayden tested for his red belt in karate. He did a great job and his form is really starting to look very good. Master Nelson presented him with his new red belt. Congrats Hayden!

NorthWest Karate Tournament

Twice a year the karate school that our grandson, Hayden, belongs to has a tournament with all the local schools participating. Its like the recital after months of practice in classes. Hayden entered 3 events and did an awesome job on them all. He took 1st place in both form and self-defence and 2nd in sparring. All the kids receive participation trophies so no one goes home empty handed. its great fun to watch and amazing to see how far these kids have come. Later in the day the older kids and adults compete and there was even a 79 year old lady who is a black belt and was competing. They learn alot about self defence, stranger danger and self esteem.

This was the card I made for Hayden for these events

Halloween

Trick or treat is over but had to share the kids costumes. Oh! and of course the dog too! Here is Snuggles sitting on top the back of the recliner waiting for the kids to come. Hayden was one of the characters from the Bauaman games, Jaxson a train engineer, he has an obsession for trains! and Traci and Tim all duked out in their western gear for a Halloween party.

October 2010 cards

Sometimes it seems the need for various cards is endless these days. Here are 4 cards that I did this week. 2 birthday cards and 2 Halloween cards. With the use of Cuddlebug embossing folders, Spellbinders Nestibilities and Martha Stewart Punches, different effects are possible with different embellishments.

Diamond National World Karate Tournament

Our grandson, Hayden, took part in the Diamond National World Karate Tournament in Minappolis MN. today and came in 2nd place for his age and class in form. They orginally were going to only watch the events and his instructor convinced our daughter to let him compete. He is so excited, and so are we.  We are so proud of him.  He should be very proud of himself, he has accomplished alot for a 7 year old.

Cuttlebug Embossing folders

I made this card using the triptyph template and then embossed the front flaps with the gate Cuttlebug embossing folder. Cut out and embossed the rectagle piece on the front with a Spellbinders rectangle die, added a Holographic 3D flower and some peel off borders and corners. makes a pretty and unusual shaped card. For the inside I used a text weight star dreams paper  and run it thru the computer to put the verse on it, cut it a little smaller than the original template  and then trimmed it with peel off edges.
